We Survived March!

Another beautiful sunset!

We survived March! No more single paned windows!

It was indeed several weeks of stress and chaos. But honestly, we feared it would be worse.

Luna was not as bothered by all the noise and chaos as Embyr who really did not like it at all. They spent several hours each day locked up in only one room.

We now have all new windows and glass doors. All double glazed. As well as some screens.

Screens are not a thing here. You just open a window-they tilt out, or sliding door and insects can fly right in. Our other challenge was that the cats could get out. And we do not want them outside. Which meant we could only open a window a crack if needed.

Now we can open windows and doors and have fresh air flow and no bugs or risk of cats escaping.

They also love the new screened windows and enjoy sitting on the sill and watching the birds. Screens for the sliding doors will be here in a few weeks.

The scaffolding is still up and will be for a few more weeks while we have a painter painting the new window frames on the outside.

Meanwhile, Eric has been busy painting the interior.

We have also ordered new window blinds and curtains. They should be ready and installed in about 3-4 weeks. We have temporarily placed cardboard in the bedroom windows so we can sleep. As well as some other windows for privacy.

We already notice the sound difference. And will enjoy the warmer winters going forward.

Just before all this started, we did get away for a weekend to the Martinborough Art Fair.  The weather was great, hot and sunny! At least I enjoyed it. Highlights were definitely the wine, kettle corn and fudge. Eric also ran a fun D&D game for us on Saturday night.

We went out on the equinox for a chance to see another aurora and managed to get a few nice photos. Still could not see much with the naked eye. But the camera certainly could see it. I can’t say that I enjoy trying to photograph what I can’t see, but it is fun to be out with friends under the stars. And the stars can be seen. We have a beautiful night sky here in NZ, when it is not hidden behind clouds.

At this point we continue to put the house back together and focus on the preparations for our upcoming trip to Scotland 🤞🏻

Send good thoughts that all goes as planned.
